Why should science be concerned with copyright? For many reasons. In research and education, works are used that are protected by copyright as well as own works are created. What scientists and lecturers need to know on German copyright ("Urheberrecht"), is explained by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) on its website (in German).
Additionally in August, the BMBF together with the German Library Association published information on the conditions to comply with when using works in universities, which are protected by German copyright ("Urheberrecht") under the framework of the "Urheberrechts-Wissensgesellschafts-Gesetzes (UrhWissG, law for copyright in the knowledge based society).
